Massive Rockfall closes McClure Pass

Staff Report: Glenwood Springs, Colorado, April 19, 2007

About 2,000 cubic yards of rock fell near McClure pass, closing Highway 133 yesterday. Colorado Department of Transportation maintenance crews are quickly working with contractors to clear away rockfall material and further stabilize the mountainside on Colorado Highway 133 south of McClure Pass, according to a news release. At approximately 6:30 Wednesday morning, about 2,000 cubic yards of rock came down onto the highway near mile marker 29, with the biggest chunk measuring 15 by 100 feet. CDOT closed the highway shortly thereafter.

Biodiesel Mandate Dies in Colorado Senate

A Colorado bill that would have mandated up to a 5 percent biodiesel blend for diesel fuel and a 10 percent ethanol blend for gasoline died in the Senate Appropriations Committee last week. The committee voted 8-5 to kill SB 238, the Colorado Motor Carriers Association reported.
